Beginner Sewing

Have you always wanted to learn how to sew?  Now's the time!  In this beginner class you will learn how to thread a sewing machine, wind a bobbin and understand the needle and thread you should be using for your projects.  In addition you will learn how to sew straight lines, curved shapes, and basic seam finishes. Using the skills you learn, you'll cut out and sew a small drawstring bag you can use to neatly store all your sewing supplies. Other possible projects include: a pillow case, earbud pouch, and mug rug.

Class Supplies:

  • Sewing Machine (needs to be in good working order)
  • Bobbins
  • Sewing Machine Needles
  • Fabric Scissors
  • 6" Hem Gauge
  • Thread

Drawstring Bag Supplies: 1/4 yd outer fabric (cotton quilting fabric), 1/4 yd inner fabric, 1/8 yd coordinating fabric, and matching thread.  Fat quarters fabric pieces are great for this project.
